Welcome to Hope Blooming’s Blog “Cultivating Wholeness Along the Way!”
by Fern E.M. Buszowski, MA Counseling, MA Leadership and Ministry
As a retired counselor, ministry worker, watercolor artist, and award-winning Canadian author I write about soul care, cultivating wholeness, resilience, and how we find ways to live life well no matter what it throws at us!
In today’s world we deal with stressful circumstances every day! Yet it’s in those times when our life journeys bring extra bad news, disappointments, or suffering where we must discover new ways to find an enduring kind of hope that helps us uncover new ways to live well and wholeheartedly in the journey and to cultivate a new type of wholeness that brings new meaning and purpose – especially when everything may be changing all around us.
“Cultivating Wholeness Along the Way” is filled with musings, stories, soul care activities, and topics that relate to living life through the challenges, because, even the best of us can get stuck in our stories. From time to time I may add in some of my watercolor artwork which is one of my favorite soul care activities!
Hey I’m Fern!
“Cultivating Wholeness along The Way” exists because I’ve always longed for a kind of wholistic healing and wholeness that welcomes and encompasses all the unique different part of our humanity – body, soul, and sprit!
So many times, we end up attending to only one side of us at a time – the physical, mental, emotional, or relational side because we seem to respond to whatever is screaming the loudest – especially during life’s challenging times. It is in those very times where we can easily forget to attend to all the other parts that still need care.
It wasn’t until I entered the world of counseling and began to see how the integration of psychology and faith along with various concepts, practices, and ways from both fields can usher us into a greater level of wholeness and healing – body, soul, and spirit.
“Cultivating Wholeness Along the Way” is a place where we’ll get curious, ask questions, cultivate compassion, resilience, empathy, and wholeness, reflect on our experience, and hopefully welcome new insights, and grow in our faith allowing that wholeness and hope to transform us more into the “me” God has called us to be and embrace “shalom” along the way.
One thing I learned in my own journey, as I’ve faced multiple adversities along the way (stage III oral cancer and a subsequent debilitating autoimmune disease), is that as we cultivate a growth mindset I also embrace the thought that “How I am today does not mean I’ll be this way tomorrow” – a quote taken from my award-winning book “Embrace Life, Embrace Hope: Cultivating Wholeness and Resilience through the Unexpected”.
It is my hope that “Cultivating Wholeness Along the Way” will bring more insight to you and to me along the way.
